Shuklaphanta National Park

The Shuklaphanta National Park (ShNP) is situated at the southwestern corner of Nepal in Kanchanpur district of Far-West State (State 7). It lies between 28º45′ – 29º00′ N latitudes and 80º10′ – 81º45′ E longitudes. The altitude ranges from 175 – 1300 m above sea level. It lies at the middle of the transboundary Terai Arc Landscape which spreads between Bagmati River in the East and Yamuna River in the west covering 14 protected areas of India and Nepal.

Vision

Conservation of Ecosystem and Biodiversity in the Terai region of Sudurpaschim province of Nepal.

Goal

Biodiversity conservation of Shuklaphanta National Park and its bufferzone with a focus on threatened species as well as mainstreaming local people’s participation for conservation work.

Objectives

  • To manage the buffer zone through participatory conservation for effective conservation of biodiversity and sustainable community development. 
  • To protect and manage rare wild animals and flora. 
  • To improve the wellbeing of the local people by developing ecotourism in support of conservation.
  • To strengthen management by implementing recommendations received from robust scientific study and research.
